To provide administrative support for networks, servers, storage arrays, and workstations used at ASUCD by upgrading infrastructure, following IT best practices, improving reliability, and increasing security.
Will work individually and under supervision to manage routers, firewalls, VMware clusters, Linux servers, Windows Domain Controllers, and Mac and Windows workstations. This process will include upgrading software, configuration, and processes, as well as documenting and responding to IT needs by the departments at ASUCD. Will also assist other programmers in the deployment and maintenance of websites and applications.
Must demonstrate good independent learning and organization skills. Must exemplify a core understanding of networking, especially the functions of TCP/IP and HTTP and routing. Must be comfortable working in a UNIX environment; and have a basic understanding of file permissions, SSH, Vim, and Git source control. Must be comfortable working in a Windows environment; and have a basic understanding of Windows configuration and IT. Should be able to demonstrate a capability to administer Linux servers running NGINX, PostgresSQL, Apache, MySQL, and VMware.
