Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Must be a current Unitrans Transit Driver employee in good standing

  2. Must be a current Unitrans Transit Driver who has become a solo driver prior to the start of Fall Quarter 2018

  3. Must be able and eligible to work through Spring 2020 under current ASUCD regulations

  4. Familiarity with Unitrans, its various departments, and policies

  5. Must be available for on-the-job training during Spring Quarter 2019 prior to assuming full Transit Driver Manager duties at Spring Finals Mandatory

 

Supervisor:

Assistant General Manager, Operations

 

Duties:

  1. Hiring Transit Drivers

    1. Communicate with the Training Manager to coordinate hiring dates

    2. Communicate with HRM to recruit and schedule hiring dates

    3. Hire at least once a quarter

  2. Ensure staff adherence to Unitrans policies including the Unitrans Strike System

    1. Create and maintain the Unitrans Strike System

    2. Issue strikes to employees

    3. Relay strike notifications and respond to strike contests

    4. Issue Strike Probation, and initiate and implement disciplinary actions

  3. Scheduling

    1. Organize shift selection for Transit Drivers

    2. Calculate and set quarterly hour minimums for all transit drivers (including those holding other positions)

    3. Oversee bi-quarterly priority shift selection and generate the priority lists

    4. Organize and lead (3) mandatory meetings per quarter

    5. Approve/deny Reduced Hours forms and Leave of Absence forms for Transit Drivers, and relay information to HRM

  4. Driver Representative

    1. Drive an appropriate amount of weekly Transit Driving shifts to maintain the knowledge base and experience required to be an appropriate representative of the Transit Drivers

    2. Represent Transit Drivers at weekly Managers Meetings

    3. Implement policies or changes that will augment the driver position and ensure that drivers are students first

  5. Management

    1. Hold weekly office hours

    2. Publish the TDM Reference Guide

    3. Schedule all dates of Priority, Mandatory, and Forms Deadlines

    4. Keep track of active transit drivers and their graduation dates

    5. Communicate regularly with Transit Drivers with updates

    6. Meet with Transit Drivers to resolve schedule conflicts

    7. Meet with newly solo drivers to go over UNI and schedule their shifts

    8. Oversee Transit Driver Manager’s Assistants

    9. Meet weekly with TDM Assistants to conjure projects and delegate tasks
