Purpose of the Position

AS Dining Services is now hiring employees to work as baristas, food servers, cooks and cashiers at BioBrew by CoHo, CoHo South Café, and the Manetti-Shrem Coffee Cart under a position titled Satellite Operation Employee. In this position, employees will train, become well versed in the operation of, and be scheduled to work at multiple ASDS satellite operations. PLEASE NOTE:  This posting is NOT for the Coffee House. Rather, this is a position at the satellite operations listed above.

TRAINING FOR THIS POSITION TAKES PLACE OVER SPRING BREAK. APPLICANTS MUST HAVE OPEN AVAILABILITY TO TRAIN OVER SPRING BREAK (3/25 – 3/29). NO EXCEPTIONS!

There will be no interviews for this position. Applicants will be selected based on experience and thoroughness of application. All new team members will have a probationary period; details will be given if offered employment.

Newly hired Satellite Operation Employees are required to attend orientation sessions and classroom training the week of March 18th.

Training will take place over spring break, the week of March 25th.

Regular work schedules (around 9 hours/week) will begin on April 1, 2019. You may be given up to 3 more hours/week at some point during Spring Quarter. If you plan to return to work during subsequent quarters, you will be expected to work a minimum 12 hours/week.

Duties

As a part of ASUCD, you agree to subscribe to the ASUCD Newsletter.

Perform an assortment of duties, including, but not limited to:

 

  1. Display EXCELLENT customer service.
  2. Work at BioBrew by CoHo, CoHo South Café, and the Manetti-Shrem Museum Coffee Cart to prepare and serve food and beverages to our customers.  You will learn how to brew coffee, work in a kitchen, serve a variety of food items, and make an assortment of espresso drinks.
  3. Ring up customers’ purchases, stock various items and maintain a balanced cash drawer.
  4. Maintain a clean work area and dining room during a shift.
  5. Apply closing/cleaning techniques.
  6. Work a minimum of 12 hours per week. This may include early mornings starting at 6:30am, closing shifts ending at 11:30pm, and working weekends and over school breaks.

Skills

  1. No experience necessary; we will train you.  However, please list all previous food experience on your application.

  2. Must be able to provide one of the following ORIGINAL documents (cannot be photo copies) for hiring paperwork on the day of orientation:

    1. Current passport,

    2. Photo ID and original birth certificate, OR

    3. Photo ID and original social security card.

  3. Must have a current CALIFORNIA FOOD HANDLER CARD within two weeks of employment.  Cost is ~$10-15. Cards can be obtained online. Details will be given if you are hired.

  4. Employment for all employees is contingent upon successful University background check.

  5. Must be able to lift up to 50 lb.

  6. Must be able to follow directions and complete given tasks.

  7. Must display a positive attitude in the workplace
