Purpose
The Gender and Sexuality Commission (GASC) actively promotes awareness of issues pertaining to gender and sexuality as well as sexual assault (SAAAC) and student healthcare (SHAW). GASC works with ASUCD and campus resources pertaining to such issues and combines outreach efforts and special projects to educate students and assist campus reform. GASC is taking the lead on forming a Title IX Task Force to advocate, lobby, petition, and support SB 493 and any other bills that are subject to be added over the course of the Winter and Spring under the Chair’s discretion.
Title IX states that: No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.

Duties

Task Force members must attend and actively participate in the majority of meetings and projects- assist in lobbying, petition distribution, advocacy, passing legislation, grants, and funding

Provide input and effective support around issues of gender and sexuality such as LGBTQ rights, reproductive justice, sexual assault, racism, and other intersections
