Purpose

IUSC brings together members of the UC Davis community, including both international and domestic students, and develops plans to voice the concerns of international students.  Specifically, the committee will act as a resource for international students. It will programmatically work with clubs and organizations that support international students, institutionalize necessary resources at UC Davis, make international students more aware of the resources ASUCD and the university have to offer, listen to the grievances of international students, advocate on their behalf to the administration, celebrate the diversity on campus, provide an information system that aids in answering their questions, and collaborate with the appropriate departments, including ASUCD, in ways to better provide for international students.
 

Duties

As a part of ASUCD, you agree to subscribe to the ASUCD Newsletter.

  • Hire IUSC members
  • Lead weekly committee meetings to oversee and execute projects dedicated to serving the international student community on campus
  •  Use feedback from ASUCD Senate, commissions, and committee discussions to create a new action plan of projects to take on
  • Maintain a working relationship with existing organizations, including but not limited to SISS
  • Regularly report to the Ethnic & Cultural Affairs Commission
 

 

Skills

  • Knowledge of issues pertaining to international students
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills
  •  Passion for international student advocacy
  • Previous experience in ASUCD is not required; applicants of a variety of backgrounds are encouraged to apply
