ASDS is looking for 3 motivated, qualified students to take on the role of Human Resources Student Managers. The Coffee House and Satellite Operations are unique, primarily student-staffed food service operations focused on offering sustainable, made-from-scratch menu items to the UC Davis community.

The students selected for the role of Human Resources Student Managers should have an understanding of all AS Dining Services personnel policies, specifically hiring, training, and scheduling policies. It is preferred that applicants have at least 6 months of Coffee House, CoHo South Café, or BioBrew by Coho experience. The Human Resources Student Managers should be able to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, abundant attention to detail, and the ability to manage their time effectively.

The students in the role of Human Resources Student Managers will be expected to set a strong moral and ethical example for their peers, work independently and effectively to achieve goals, and to communicate with the AS Dining Services management team on a regular basis in order to ensure all personnel actions are completed as needed.

The student selected will finish their time as Human Resources Student Manager having gained broad experience in various aspects of food service management, including hiring, scheduling, record keeping, and staff relations.

Under guidance of career management:


  • Compile applications for all entry-level employee positions
  • Notify applicants of results and relay important on-boarding information
  • Assist with scheduling orientation, training shifts, and meetings for new hires
  • Track required paperwork and ensure trainings are attended and completed by all newly hired employees


  • Assist with scheduling
  • Contact employees to request availability prior to scheduling
  • Work closely with Student Employment Coordinator to fill employee schedule
  • Complete all schedule changes on Facebook sub-boards

Record Keeping

  • Maintain personnel databases up-to-date
  • Daily checklists, late shift/missed shift points, food handler cards, etc.
  • Maintain and complete payroll on a bi-weekly basis
  • Maintain Positive Points Tracker

Staff Relations

  •  Collect and distribute Employee of the Month nominations
  • Act as a liaison between Student Managers and Supervisors
  •  Participate in Management Team meetings, discussions, and decision making


  • Coordinate with Human Resources Student Managers at the Coffee House/Satellite Operations for administrative consistency
  • Administrative tasks
  • Print area schedules, inventory office supplies, social media, PMIX oversight


  • Must be a UC Davis student
  • Must be available to work at least part of Winter break
  • Must be available to process payroll every other Monday at 6 am
  • Able to work 17—19.5 hours per week*
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  •  Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Must have displayed an excellent work ethic and a high moral standard as an ASDS team member
  • Able to maintain confidentiality
