Purpose
Under the direction of the Transfer Student Representative, the Director of Events and Outreach will be responsible for planning events targeted towards fulfilling the social, academic, and cultural needs of transfer students building and maintaining relationships with entities that benefit and support transfer students. This position will report to the Chief of Staff and serve as a member of the OTSR Administrative Committee. The Director of Events and Outreach will work closely with the Director of Communications and Marketing when/if needed.
Duties

- Regularly plan events during the quarter depending on the needs of the transfer student body. Events include, but are not limited to, panels, discussions, and workshops.
- Collaborate with relevant transfer student bodies (ex: TRC, COLLECTIVE, Veterans’ Success Center, etc) to assist in planning social events or create new programming for transfer students
- Create alumni relationships that are willing to give back to the community through panels, professional opportunities, and more
- Seek and maintain on-campus presence through events such as tabling events, involvement fairs, and more
- Adhere to an event proposal process to ensure effective program implementation.
- Hire, train, and manage officers to assist in fulfilling job duties.
Skills
- Excellent written, verbal, analytical, and presentation skills and the ability to clearly and concisely present information and effectively communicate to members of the OTSR, other entities of ASUCD, and the general student body.
- Have prior experience serving in an outreach capacity as a student ambassador, peer mentor, or other relevant roles.
- Familiar with building external partnerships with organizations such as community colleges, on-campus departments, and more.
- A competent knowledge of transfer student issues.
- Long-term goal planning, creative vision, and strong organizational skills.
- Prior event planning and/or campaign building skills through student clubs or other relevant experience.
