Purpose
The Ethnic and Cultural Affairs Commission (ECAC) is responsible for investigating and recommending policies and programs concerning under-represented communities at UC Davis. The commission accomplishes this task by establishing liaison and achieving rapport with on and off-campus communities . Composed of nine members and up to four alternates, the commission welcomes visitors at its weekly meetings.
Our goal is to help historically marginalized groups who face institutionalized, internalized, and systemic oppression represent themselves. We serve as an anti-racist, anti-colonialist, and anti-capitalist body to ensure marginalized communities and identities are prioritized in our advocacy. We are here to propose legislation and support events that honor or affect different ethnic, racial, and cultural backgrounds. We will voice your concerns if needed to, and will empower cross-cultural interaction in order to represent and bring awareness within our communities, student body, and the University of California, Davis.
