Purpose

Train Unitrans driver trainees to get their Class B Commercial License.

The successful candidate may hold this position through expected graduation date based on satisfactory performance in the position.

Duties

A. Administer the Unitrans Driver Trainer Program

  1. Maintain current knowledge of driving, training, and safety requirements

  2. Responsible for knowledge of DMV pre-trip and performance of DMV driving skills

  3. Assist in the design and documentation of all Unitrans equipment and efficient in-service performance of drivers

  4. Train all new Unitrans drivers in accordance with the driver training program in a timely fashion

  5. Make recommendations concerning trainees to the Training Manager

  6. Attend biweekly meetings

B. Administer driver evaluation and retraining

  1. In coordination with other Driver Trainers, provide and document in-service evaluation of every driver at least once each academic quarter

  2. Provide and document in-service retraining to all drivers as needed to meet the objective of the position

  3. Provide and document out-of-service retraining to all drivers as needed to meet the objective of this position

  4. Submit training and evaluation records to the Training Manager for review and filing

  5. Provide and document accident refresher training and make recommendations to the Training Manager or upon completion of training

Skills

  1. MUST SUBMIT A COVER LETTER ALONG WITH YOUR RESUME.

  2. Teaching skills necessary to train students on proper operation of transit vehicles

  3. Organizational skills necessary to administer the training program

  4. Knowledge of the structure and procedures of the Unitrans system

  5. Basic mechanical knowledge necessary to operate Unitrans equipment

  6. Must have a good driving record

  7. Must have 400 Lifetime Hours

  8. Must have 2 years with a class B license (if you’re within 4 months of achieving this, then you are eligible to still apply)

  9. Not on any strike or accident probation

  10. MUST NOT have a graduation date before Winter 2023.
