Purpose

To maintain the safe, efficient, and effective daily operations of the Unitrans system. To be a resource, a leader and role model for all employees.

Duties

1. Dispatch

  1. Held directly responsible for the location and status of all Unitrans vehicles at all times.
  2. Oversees and upholding appropriate procedures to all passengers and Driver related incidents.
  3. In charge of handling check-ins and making sure that all employees arrive and take off on time.
  4. Responsible for contacting employees in the event of uncovered and/or missed shifts.
  5. Utilize trippers to make sure columns take off on time.
  6. Reroutes buses back to avoid misses bus stops.
  7. Answers all calls on the Dispatch landline phone.
  8. Being able to work profressionally with RS as a team
  9. Must come to an agreement with RS when handling incidents and accidents
  10. Comfortable informing appropriate managers when handling incidents and accidents
2. Road Supervisor
  1. Oversees and responds to accidents, passenger related incidents, bus problems, minor repair, fluid spills,and biohazards.
  2. Ensure that terminals and buses are well stocked with necessary supplies.
  3. Completes mandatory daily Driver observations.
  4. Serves as a messenger between the Maintenance Facility and Uni-1 Business Office.
  5. Comfortable working with and calling appropriate emergency personnel
  6. Shuttles employees when possible.
  7. Fuels vehicles that 10-19 for the day.
  8. Being able to work professionally with DS as a team 
  9. Must come to an agreement with DS when handling incidents and accidents. 

3. Charter Supervisor

  1. Oversees in-town charters outside of regular service hours.
  2. Comfortable answering driver and passenger questions
  3. Oversees and upholding appropriate procedures to accidents, passenger-related incidents, bus problems, minor repair, fluid spills, and biohazards outside of normal service hours.
  4. Comfortable working with and calling appropriate emergency personnel(s)
  5. Comfortable informing appropriate Managers when handling incidents and accidents outside of normal service hours.

Skills

  1.  Must currently be a Unitrans driver.
  2. Knowledge of the Unitrans system including familiarity with daily operations.
  3. Knowledge of the capabilities of the different types of Unitrans vehicles.
  4. Must maintain and balance all requirements from other Unitrans positions. 
  5. Must have a valid class B driver’s license, VTT, and Medical Card at all times.
  6. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  7. Ability to exercise a high degree of independent responsibility and confidentiality.
  8. Must remain professional both on and off-duty, including posting online. 
  9. Must excercise confidentiality at the Pad, terminals and anywhere in Davis on past events including Driver related issues, accidents, and incidents both on and off duty.
  10. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively along all lines of authority.
  11. Have strong active listening and communication skills.
  12. Understanding cause and effect when making safe and efficient decisions.
  13. Ability to motivate people to meet shift coverage.
  14. Must be fully trained on modern Dennis double deck buses before applying
  15. Able and willing to be RT and Dennis conductor trained before going solo
  16. Must not be on probation or suspension from any position.
  17. Must complete classroom and fluids in-person training before shadowing Supervisor shifts
  18. Must start in-person shadowing immediately after completing Classroom and Fluids training
  19. Must meet weekly with RSMA to discuss shadowing progress
  20. Must be available to shadow 4-5 shifts per week after hiring. Expectation of becoming solo within 6 to 10 weeks
  21. Must have 500 safe hours or be eligble to be RT trained. If unsure, please contact the Route Supervisor Manager
  22. Must be able to work a minimun of 3 full quarters after shadowing 
  23. Must be Unitrans employed until the end of Summer Session 1 and/or Summer Session 2 of 2023. 
  24. Must be available to attend weekly mandatory Supervisor trainings and refreshers
  25. Must submit completed resume and cover letter. No exceptions!
