Purpose
Student Health and Wellness Committee (SHAWC) has seven (7) voting members. The objective of SHAWC is to plan events and develop initiatives on campus that promote student health and wellness and address student populations concerns regarding health (ie. Health resources, programs, de-stigmatization, etc.). Areas of promotion of student health include: Campus Health- Student Health and Wellness Center, Campus Rec and Unions, and Student Run Health Organizations.
Duties
As a part of ASUCD, you agree to subscribe to the ASUCD Newsletter.
General Members are responsible
for the work in promotion of health bodies listed above, developing events and
initiatives that cater towards improving student health on campus, and are
liaisons between ASUCD and Campus Health organizations.
Also Board positions(General
member duties+added responsibility) within Committee include:
-Vice Chair- Assist with overseeing committee and all its efforts
with Chair
-Publicity and Communications Representative- Responsible for
communication with other health bodies on campus and marketing of club within
events/initiatives, social media, (web design is a plus but not required)
-Health Analyst- student-centered role in communicating prevalent
student health concerns with committee and ASUCD senate. Must attend at least
two ASUCD senate meetings a quarter. Opportunity to interact with many campus
leaders. More hours may be needed on certain weeks.
-Events and Program Overseer- oversee any events of the committee
from time layout, costs, speakers, rooms, etc.

required). All applicants will still be considered for regular membership
regardless of interest in a board position. MUST have interest of committee
membership first and foremost (board position will then be considered
afterward).
Skills
Knowledge
and experience within health and issues/concerns of health and wellness
specifically pertaining student population. Willingness and motivation to
execute initiatives and programs to help promote areas of health and IMPROVE
the wellbeing of students. MUST make commitment to attend every meeting, accomplish
tasks given in a timely manner, and communicate respectively and effectively
with committee, ASUCD, and health organizations.
MUST attend weekly meetings: Tuesdays 5:30-7PM
