Purpose
Responsible for all human resource-related functions for Unitrans student operations staff including hiring, disciplining, and motivating student staff.
Duties
As a part of ASUCD, you agree to subscribe to the ASUCD Newsletter.
A. Recruit, hire, and retain all operations, training, and managerial positions.
B. Update and maintain employee records including employee logs, phone lists, UWS employee data, and list serves.
C. Ensure staff adherence to Unitrans policies including the Unitrans Strike System.
D. Organize shift selection, including setting quarterly hour minimums for all positions, overseeing priority shift selection, and organizing and leading mandatory meetings.
E. Enhance employee morale and group cohesion by planning and promoting social events.
F. Supervise Personnel Assistants and the Outreach and Retention Coordinator.
G. Handle employee personnel needs and ancillary HR duties.
Skills
The qualifications necessary to perform the duties of the Unitrans Human Resources Manager may be acquired, to a large extent, through on-the-job training and experience. General, fundamental attributes necessary for this position are listed below.
A. Must be a current Unitrans employee in good standing.
B. Must be and eligible to work through Spring 2016 under current ASUCD regulations.
C. Exercise sound, independent judgment.
D. Demonstrate strong leadership abilities.
E. Demonstrate strong listening and communication skills.
F. Demonstrate strong organizational and planning skills.
G. Demonstrate conflict resolution skills.
H. Exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive, complex, and confidential personnel issues.
I. Commitment to working closely with other Unitrans departments.
J. Familiarity with Unitrans, its various departments, and its policies.
K. Ability to carry out recruitment and retention efforts.
L. Ability to prepare clear, concise, and comprehensive correspondence and other written materials.
M. Ability to delegate and supervise the work of Personnel Assistants and Outreach and Retention Coordinator.
N. Ability to evaluate human resource management practices and procedures and make steps toward improvement.
O. Willingness to occasionally work late, outside of normal office hours, weekends, during breaks, and extra time if needed.
P. General knowledge of Unitrans Strike system, priority shift selection process, and mandatory procedures.
Q. Available for on-the-job training throughout Spring quarter prior to assuming full HRM duties at Spring Finals Mandatory.
